José Mª Emperador Alzola, born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1952 is an Industrial Engineer since 1982. He received his doctorate as Industrial Engineer in 1988, by the ETSII of Las Palmas, right now part of the ULPGC. He is researcher and founder of the SIANI.

He makes his professional career in the field of calculus and structure design, as EMPAR assistant from 1976 to 1979; guarantor at the calculus section of DISCASA from 1979 to 1983 and also made consultancy services to some professional studies of architecture and engineering at the same time. University professor since January of 1983 in a wide variety of categories and permanent professor at the university since November of 1991.

Has taught in the ETSII and ETIIC in first, second and third cycle courses, as well as graduate, post-graduate, master at SIANI and also in the University Expert. He has been invited to some conferences and is coauthor of some journal articles, book chapters, national and international conferences in his lines of enquiry that are the following: Interaction between ground and structure, wave propagation, elastic at continuous media and gravitational waves at sea and in structure optimization with usage of structure optimization with evolutionary algorithms, mainly genetic algorithms. He has made some reports for private enterprises and is right now in possession of a six-year period of researching. Has coproduced doctoral thesis and also directed final year degree and master projects related with the lines of enquiry mentioned before.

He has also been Civil Engineering department secretary, ETSII assistant director, director of some divisions and cloistral professor.
