Continuum Mechanics and Structures

Researcher

Luis A. Padrón works as Associate Professor in the University of Las Palmas de G.C., teaching subjects related to the areas of Project Engineering and Continuum Mechanics and Structures..

Mechanical Engineer and Ph.D. by the ULPGC, he has also performed research stays at the University of Patras (Greece) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA). Aiming at improving the seismic safety of structures, his research deals with the application of computational mechanics techniques to structural dynamics and dynamic soil-structure interaction problems in earthquake engineering. More precisely, he works mainly in the development and application of computer codes based on the Boundary Element Method (BEM) and the Finite Element Method (FEM) aimed at the seismic analysis of piles and pile-supported structures. He also works on the experimental analysis of structures, always as a member of the SIANI's Continuum Mechanics and Structures Division.
