Researchers of ULPGC prove that the explosion of El Hierro volcano did not produce biological fertilization
The new research shows that explosion of submarine volcano in 2011 did not produce any biological fertilitation that accelerate the recovery of the marine ecosystem, as it has been suggested in previous studies.

University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) researchers, Markel Góme Letona, Javier Arístegui and María Fernanda Montero of Oceanography and Global Change University Institute (IOCAG), along with Antonio González Ramos and Josep Coca,  of Robotics and Computational Oceanography Division of Intelligent Systems and Numerical Applications in Engineering (IUSIANI), have published an investigational article in international magazine Scientific Reports, in which it is showed that the eruption of submarine volcano 'Tagoro' on the island El Hierro in 2011 did not produce any biological fertilization that would accelerate the recovery of the marine ecosystem in the area of the explosion.
